Accor has confirmed bringing the Novotel and ibis brands to the £260 million Newcastle Gateshead Quays regeneration scheme.
The agreement with Gateshead Council, its development partners Ask Real Estate and independent investment manager, Ask:PATRIZIA, will see the dual branded hotel established on the quayside of the 587,000 sq ft development. Designed by AHR Architects the 172,000 sq ft hotel forms a central part of the arena-led, mixed-use scheme on Gateshead’s waterfront. Vine Hotels will undertake the management of the hotels on behalf of the Council.
Sir Robert McAlpine is appointed to deliver the scheme, including the hotel, with construction expected to start in Spring for an anticipated opening in 2024.
The 187-room Novotel will feature the global brand’s newest public space and bedroom design concept, due to be launched later this year, in addition to state of the art meeting rooms and conference facilities, a gym and restaurant with views over Newcastle and the River Tyne.
The 140-room ibis hotel will feature a vibrant public space and lounge. As a dual branded hotel, the 14-storey Accor property will cater to a broad range of customers, from those looking for accommodation on a budget to corporate, leisure and family guests seeking a more comprehensive offering.
