Umbrella Training strengthens senior management team through key industry appointment

March 1, 2021

Hospitality Apprenticeships

Umbrella Training, a leading nationwide training and apprenticeship provider for the hospitality and corporate services sector, has appointed Kate Kelly as commercial director to support its continued growth strategy.

A seasoned commercial and business development professional, Kelly will be responsible for developing the company’s marketing and sales strategy.

She will also be responsible for devising and developing the company’s commercial and apprenticeship activity – building relationships with new and existing stakeholders and business partners.

Kelly joins the business from high-end florists Hayford & Rhodes, where she worked as business development director.

Prior to that, Kelly worked in various senior sales and events roles, including as account director at Fisher Productions, and event sales manager at both The O2 and The Roundhouse.

Kelly said: “After working in hospitality and events for 18 years, I am thrilled to join a company that has such a vested interest in the industry’s future.

“It has been such a hard year for hospitality and it feels great to be supporting so many businesses to get back on their feet with bespoke training programmes, rebuilding their workforce and motivating their teams with new skills and knowledge.

“In the short time I’ve been with the company, we have launched as a Kickstart Scheme gateway, offering advice and guidance to businesses who want to access the benefits of the scheme, as well as broadening our client portfolio by working on some fantastic projects and supporting new industries that have recognised the value in apprenticeships.”

Adele Oxberry, CEO and Founder, Umbrella Training, said: “We are delighted to have Kate on-board. She not only brings a wealth of strategic business development experience, but her commercial understanding and knowledge is going to be crucial as we continue to take our service offer to the next level.”
