Each and every day Hospitality Action are contacted by hospitality people facing a crisis.
The pandemic has pushed thousands of families into poverty and many are facing a bleak Christmas unsure whether they can put food on the table to keep a roof over their heads. The entire Hospitality Action team are working flat out to help as many people as possible this festive season.
Here’s the story of just one person we’ve helped in recent weeks:
Covid-19 cost Robert his job as a Night Manager in the Channel Islands. As he lived-in at the hotel not only did he suddenly lose his job Robert also lost his home. Struggling to find a new job and with only £1.22 in his pocket Robert was hours away from homelessness.
Robert managed to secure emergency accommodation in his native Scotland but was unable to afford the train fare. We arranged for an emergency grant to enable Robert to travel to his new accommodation and additional funds to buy a kettle, toaster and microwave.
Robert told us: “I had been travelling around on the bus all day just to stay warm when you called to let me know you could help. I went straight to the station to buy a ticket and made it to my new accommodation that night. I’ve also been able to buy some new clothes for job interviews as I had to leave a lot of my stuff behind when I moved as I just couldn’t carry it all. Thank you so much.”
