In most aspects of life planning leads to the best outcomes, yet as a country we have a Prime Minister that leaves everything to the last minute. This has been blatantly obvious throughout Brexit, and is now also all too apparent with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The cost to the hospitality industry, UK PLC, and the international reputation of the UK as a consequence of the PM’s tardy behaviour is already immense, it could in the next few weeks get a whole lot worse.
The ‘emergency’ press conference that took place on Saturday sent alarm bells ringing as a direct consequence of its tone and the immediacy of measures imposed. Later the same day rail stations in London witnessed crowds of passengers in panic mode descend to evacuate London before midnight.
The following morning a shaken Matt Hancock appeared on television warning viewers that the Government had lost control of the new strain of coronavirus.
Seeing that the UK Government had admitted being out of control of the spread of coronavirus European Governments then stepped in to take control themselves.
France suspended all air, rail, and road entry from the UK yesterday, which has immediately seen ports blocked and motorways transformed into lorry parks.
Other countries around the world are now acting similarly including…
- Argentina
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Chile
- Croatia
- Denmark
- El Salvador
- Germany
- Holland
- Hong Kong
- Iran
- Ireland
- Israel
- Italy
- Kuwait
- Morocco
- Portugal
- Saudi Arabia
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Turkey
Doubtless throughout today more and more international borders will refuse entry to UK citizens and travel in and out of the UK cease.
The ineptitude of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet of incompetent cohorts in managing the UK, is being taken out of their hands as we see the world deliver a vote of no confidence in it.
The hospitality industry in the UK has been saying as much for months.
