The development of a new training hotel at Moreton Morrell College in Warwick is on hold due to a lack of funds, with plans to now sell off land and buildings to boost its finances.
The training hotel would have been a major boost to the college, and to pupils planning to enter a career in hospitality.
Warwickshire College Group, now called WGC, had planned to run Moreton Hall as a four star training hotel with funding partly provided by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other supporters.
The funding has however now not materialised as the National Lottery Heritage Fund and others see the impact of Covid-19 on hospitality and tourism reducing demand for training.
WCG have now also announced a potential sale of residential property, and some agricultural land.
WCG representatives have said that there is still hope for the future development of a new training hotel, but have not been specific.
