Boris Johnson at 5pm today is set to announce a month-long full lockdown of England.
In the announcement to the nation live on television the Prime Minister is widely expected to outline a new ‘Tier 4’ Covid measure starting on Monday that will close all hospitality businesses until 2nd December.
The month long lockdown will not only see hospitality close but also a nationwide ban on different households mixing indoors, although schools, universities and colleges are expected to stay open.
The construction industry will be ‘encouraged’ to continue works underway, and courts and parliament will also remain open.
Conservative MP Steve Baker, who was in Downing Street today in discussions preparing for the announcement, urged everyone in the UK to watch and listen, carefully.
Conservative MP Steve Baker says Boris Johnson has “very difficult choices to make”, and urges members of the pubic and other MPs to “listen carefully” to what the prime minister has to say.
