The shameful news that MPs voted down the motion to provide school meals during school holidays has now been overshadowed by the generosity of hospitality businesses.
Last week saw 318 MPs, 317 Conservatives and 1 Independent – all named here, vote down the provision of school meals while they enjoy fine dining at work in Parliament, subsidised to the tune of £1.7 Million by tax payers.
With most of the country outraged by this denial of meals to needy school children, Marcus Rashford MBE and hundreds of hospitality businesses around the country stepped in to fill the gap.
Irrespective of the difficulties facing the hospitality industry many individuals have seen beyond their own challenges and offered to help where they can. Showing empathy and understanding that seemingly is beyond 318 MPs, despite what they may try and tell you at election time.
As Marcus Rashford MBE raised the call for support for hungry school children, restaurants, cafes, pubs and many more outlets of hospitality stepped forward and offered help.
Much of this took place on twitter and has been followed up by television and other national media.
The support for school meal provision even breached one of football’s most passionate rivalries, Manchester United and Liverpool, as Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp tweeted his support for and admiration of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford MBE.
Klopp launched a scathing attack on the government failure to “show any kind of leadership”, and called Marcus Rashford MBE, “wondrous” for humanity in feeding hungry children.
Klopp on @MarcusRashford: “That he has to do it is a bit of a shame but it’s wonderful as well. I hope his mother is really proud of him, I don’t know him, but I am.” 👏🏽 pic.twitter.com/85g9GwaOqw

There are countless examples of generosity and the best place to see them is on Marcus Rashford MBE’s twitter page here. He took time out to thank each and every one of them, and so do we. Well Done ALL!
