The creators of the award-winning British Cassis and Framboise, White Heron Drinks has been collaborating with a talented bunch of bartenders during lockdown to create a new selection of sumptuous summer cocktail recipes.
Working with its UK distributor Love Drinks, the brief was to simply create a drink using the British Cassis that would provide some respite and relaxation in these uniquely worrying times.
The first three drinks were created by Alex Williams from the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, Drew Gray from The Gate and freelance mixologist Luke Robinson, formerly of the Lyan Company.
Jo Hilditch, Founder of White Heron Drinks, said: “We always need new cocktails creating so it was a no-brainer once the lockdown began, that if we were going to pay anyone to create them, it should be some of the struggling bartenders and mixologists, whose lives have been turned upside down by the pandemic and the closure of the hospitality sector. A massive thanks to Alex, Drew and Luke for taking the time to create and test these absolutely terrific tipples. Bang on brief and beautifully balanced, the drinks will definitely lift spirits this summer.”
The trio of cocktail recipes includes:
Currant Situation by Drew Gray
- 25ml White Heron British Cassis
- 10ml Dry Vermouth
- 15ml Tequila
- 10ml Thyme Honey
- Tonic/Soda water to top
Method: Build in a glass
Glass: Wine Glass
Garnish: Thyme and Blackcurrant
Another sumptuous summer cocktail is All Cobbling Together, by Alex Williams
About White Heron Drinks
Founded in 2005, White Heron Drinks was set up due to an abundance of the finest quality blackcurrants and because of Jo Hilditch’s entrepreneurial streak and determination.
Whittern Farms in Herefordshire has been in Jo’s family for four generations and after a surplus crop of blackcurrants one year, she decided she had to find a fitting use for them.
Remembering the sickly-sweet French Crème de Cassis which she drank on holidays in France, an idea started to form and following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father who were innovators in their time, British Cassis – a luxurious blackcurrant liqueur – was launched in 2005.
Following Jo’s appearance on Dragon’s Den in 2015, where she famously rejected four offers from the Dragons, the British Cassis has seen stunning success with key listings in nationwide retailers such as Waitrose and numerous awards including a 3-star Gold Great Taste award.
The British Cassis is already stocked in prestigious ON-trade venues such as The Ivy, Brown’s Restaurant Group, the Clove Club, the Lighterman and the Rosewood Hotel and the company launched its British Framboise in 2019.
The British Cassis and Framboise are available in sleek 500ml and 200ml bottles, which can be purchased from Waitrose, Masters of Malt, Amazon and Ocado.
