Cairn Group-owned Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre has appointed Luke Crawford to take on its most senior position. Originally from Darlington, the 28-year-old has made the exciting move to Aberdeen to step into his first general manager role where he will manage the day to-day running of the 155-bedroom property in the West End of the city centre.
No stranger to Cairn Group, Luke joined the company at 17 years old as food and beverage assistant at his local hotel, Holiday Inn Scotch Corner. Carving a successful career in hospitality, he rose through the ranks and then enjoyed a spell at the group’s second hotel in Darlington, Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel.
In his current role stepping up as general manager, Luke will lead the hotel’s 20-strong team to deliver Cairn Group’s excellent standards of service.
Luke said: “To take my first general manager role with such a reputable company is fantastic and a real career highlight. Having worked in hotels from the beginning of my career across roles from food and beverage to operations, I know the industry inside out, especially what great service looks like. I’m really enjoying getting to know my new city and am looking forward to taking on new challenges, supporting my team and continuing the hotel’s success.”
Commenting on Luke’s appointment, Cairn Group’s HR director Richard Adams added: “At Cairn Group our employees are at the heart of all of our operations. We heavily focus on staff development and encourage progression, recognising hard work and enthusiasm. It’s great to see Luke take the next steps in his career with us.”
