Gordon Ramsay has always courted publicity and sometimes even basks in it when it’s bad, this week is no different, and we understand he is currently basking in it at one of his holiday homes in Cornwall with his family.
A furore started earlier this week within the press when reporting of Ramsay’s reactions to, like every other restaurateur in the UK, being forced by government to close his restaurants. Ramsay laid off his team of 500 people, including chefs and waiters, informing them that their contracts were being terminated with immediate effect.
Some of Ramsay’s team understandably took to social media reacting to the news with anger at the treatment they received.
The 500 strong team employed by Ramsay were then told by email they will get paid until April 17, but that they have no guarantee of their jobs being reinstated when the crisis is over, and restaurants reopen.
How callous to head off to one of your holiday homes with little or no regard for either the locals or the 500 hospitality people left in financial limbo.
