One of the great joys of work is having people around you and talking, last week one of the discussions at H&C News centred around mentoring and how more of it would benefit our industry.
It is a discussion that we find has grown in frequency and depth, not only in the office but also in external meetings with people who are equally, if not more passionate about it than we are.
So, our discussion last week led to the question, who would be your perfect hospitality mentor?
The answers, and the reasons, were in most instances influenced by who we come into contact with, directly and/or report on. That of course limits the scope of the discussion, so, we want to open this up and ask our readers, who would be your perfect hospitality mentor?
Regular readers will know that we regularly report on the people and skills shortages in our industry, hopefully not too regularly, but…we do see it as our industry’s biggest issue. We also see mentoring as a key tactic that will lessen the issue, over time.
There are many well-known mentors throughout our industry, some that are less well-known and, in most instances, relatively unknown. We would ask readers to help us to recognise all, by simply letting us know who would be your perfect hospitality mentor?
The image at the top of this page only shows some of the people we discussed, it is not designed to be a short list or suggest nominations, anyone can be nominated.
The form below can be used, and you can simply name someone you feel warrants recognition or let us have as much reasoning as you choose to provide to qualify your selection with.
You can also take to twitter using the hashtag #MyPerfectHospitalityMentor and naming the person, ideally with their @username
We will publish the results in January, please give us a big job of work to collect the information and publish the results.
