New General Manager appointed for two new Aberdeen hotels

December 21, 2018

Mark Leyland, General Manager of Hilton Aberdeen TECA and Aloft Aberdeen TECA

In anticipation of ‘The Event Complex Aberdeen’ opening in 2019, Mark Leyland has been appointed as General Manager of the site’s two new hotels.

Mark (40) will manage Hilton Aberdeen TECA and Aloft Aberdeen TECA, each of which will be run by the UK’s leading independent hotel management company, RBH.

Experienced hotelier Mark started his management career as Food and Beverage Manager for the Aberdeen Marriott Hotel in 2003 and has quickly risen through the industry ranks.

With eight years of experience as a General Manager, he has held previous posts with York Marriott Hotel, Portsmouth Marriott Hotel and the Skopje Marriott hotel in Macedonia.

Mark will lead the team at the Hilton Aberdeen TECA, which will offer 200 stylish bedrooms. It will present outstanding facilities such as a destination restaurant and cocktail bar, a second restaurant, coffee shop and pre event bar, a beautiful spa and fitness club which will welcome both residents and non-residents, an executive lounge and seven state of the art  meeting rooms.

He will also oversee the 150-bedroom Aloft Aberdeen TECA, which will be the first design of its kind in Scotland – targeting next generation travellers and offering tech-forward amenities, live music and urban-style interiors.

Aloft Aberdeen TECA will be located just next door to the new event complex, whilst Hilton Aberdeen TECA will adjoin the new conference centre, which is currently under construction.

Mark said: “I am very excited to return to Aberdeen and proud to be leading two major new openings in the city with Hilton and Aloft two highly respected and individual brands. The teams are looking forward to next year’s greatly anticipated openings and will be poised to welcome both business and leisure travellers to the city as well as locals who we are sure will enjoy these two high quality hotels, destination restaurants and leisure and spa facilities within.

“The event complex is starting to take shape and I am eager see the finished result. The new events complex and the two hotels will create the perfect place to stay and meet whilst in Aberdeen, helping to attract new events, world class performers and both local and international events giving a boost to the local economy.”
