The best catering education appeals to students who have grown up in the digital age

Training and developing students to enter and develop a career in hospitality and catering is the very lifeblood of our industry. We need more people coming into our industry to fill the people and skills shortages that limit growth.

So, we were delighted when we came across the video below, where Alistair Wrigley, Commercial Catering Manager at Middlesbrough College explains how he and his team work with students, apprentices and Rational in delivering training.

The scale of catering at Middlesbrough College provides for 13,500 students and 1,000 staff every day. Recent significant growth in the catering requirements at the college led to Alistair Wrigley working closely with Rational to adapt and grow output.

The video looks at how students and apprentices worked with the catering team and Rational to ensure the technology developed by Rational is fully utilised. This is now also part of the college’s academies and wider ongoing catering training. The focus of which is to ensure that students and apprentices go on to develop a career in hospitality and catering.
