November 15, 2018

Leonardo Hotels is proud to announce the acquisition of the iconic Midland Hotel, Manchester. Situated in the heart of the city on Peter Street, the Grade II listed building encompasses stylish design, fine dining and renowned customer service since it opened in 1903, making the property an important part of the city’s history. With the acquisition, Leonardo Hotels will draw on the fascinating history of The Midland, whilst also looking to the future to offer great guest experiences.

Step inside the grand entrance of The Midland and be greeted with captivating history. The Midland has hosted kings and queens, presidents, prime ministers and countless celebrities. It is where Charles Rolls was introduced to Henry Royce leading to the formation of the luxury car business in 1904. Those to have stayed and dined in the hotel include Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and Sir Winston Churchill, however The Beatles were famously refused entry to one of its restaurants for being “inappropriately dressed”.

First opened in 1903 by Midland Railway, and now one of the most iconic and historic hotels in Manchester, the ornate, four-star property features 312 bedrooms including 7 suites, the award winning 4 AA rosette restaurant Adam Reid at The French and 2 AA rosette Mr Cooper’s. There is also a sophisticated Tea Room and the newly refurbished Midland Bar serving food all day. The hotel has 14 inspiring meeting and function rooms suitable for weddings, award ceremonies, gala dinners and AGMs for up to 700 people. The luxurious Spa at The Midland is open to everyone and offers a wide range of treatments and experiences.
