Macdonald Resorts’ flexible approach to the self-catering accommodation market has helped deliver a significant increase in bookings across its resorts in the UK and Spain.
Between April and July, Macdonald Resorts recorded a 25% increase in the number of nights booked across its resort portfolio compared to the same period last year.
Macdonald Resorts puts this increase down, in part, to its newly adopted flexible booking changes which follows analysis of guest booking patterns and feedback. The group recently adjusted minimum stays and have seen three to five-night stays increasing in popularity as opposed to the traditional week, or two-week periods.
Guests can also start their holidays on any day of the week, as Macdonald Resorts has moved away from traditional ‘change over’ days which is a set check-in/out day – to be more flexible and meet customer demand. This has also helped guests benefit from a wider choice of value flights to Spain and Portugal.
Valerie Allison, rentals revenue manager at Macdonald Resorts, said: “A 25% increase in rooms booked is testament to the work the resorts team has done to tailor our idyllic destinations to the wants and needs of our guests. We have taken onboard feedback, as well as analysed booking patterns, to deliver holidays and short breaks in superb locations with the flexibility our UK holiday makers want.”
Macdonald Resorts operates eleven destinations located in areas of outstanding beauty from coast to country across the UK, Spain and Portugal. They provide ideal locations for family breaks, activity breaks, beach holidays or golf trip with the added flexibility of self-catering accommodation and lots of onsite leisure facilities such as swimming pools, gyms and restaurants.
Ruth Graham, general manager, Macdonald Lochanhully Resort, said: “Our more flexible approach suits the changing needs of our customers and is already paying dividends. The increase in bookings is driven by increased demand for shorter breaks. Families and couples are now booking more short breaks and holidays throughout the year to escape from the daily hustle and bustle on a more regular basis.”
