Lawrence Kenwright the Chairman of hotel group Signature Living has vowed to give his hotel away for the evening and a free bar in one of his restaurants if England Win The World Cup.
Hotel Boss Lawrence, who has a string of luxury hotels in Liverpool, Cardiff, Preston and Belfast is the co owner of the renowned football themed Shankly Hotel in Liverpool which was built in tribute to the Liverpool FC manager Bill Shankly OBE. Lawrence co owns the hotel with Bill Shankly’s grandson Chris Carline and which is one of a number of themed football hotels that his company Signature Living owns and operates.
Following England’s 2-0 victory over Sweden, the football mad Chairman stated on his social media account.
“ This is incredible ! If we actually go all the way and win the World Cup, I’ll throw a huge party. I’ll give away an entire hotel for free for a night and a free bar at Alma De Cuba for everyone ! You can all hold me to this!”
Commenting on England’s victory, Chairman Lawrence Kenwright said;
“This is absolutely amazing that we really do have a chance to win the World Cup and bring it home under Gareth Southgate and this team of talented players.
To have both Jordan Pickford (Everton) and Jordan Henderson (Liverpool) both in the England team and playing in that match was a hugely proud moment for all Liverpool and Everton fans and as the city of Liverpool, we were all right behind them.
The 1966 victory under Bobby Moore was an incredibly special achievement and I sincerely hope that we as a great nation can once more hold our heads up high and lift the Jules Rimet trophy again.“
Signature Living are also currently working on three further football themed hotels which will open in 2018/2019. This includes developing the £15m George Best Hotel in Belfast which is being built in tribute to the legendary Manchester United and Northern Ireland player. The company is working closely with the George Best family to ensure the hotel reflects the players legacy as well as donating items of football memorabilia from his career.
Signature Living are also currently building the Dixie Dean Hotel (Liverpool) – in honour of the Everton legend Dixie Dean. Developed in conjunction with the family of Dixie Dean, the £12m development sits across the road from the Shankly Hotel. It will be the first time that any city in the world has had two hotels built in tribute to their football teams and iconic footballers.
A second £12m Shankly Hotel is also currently being built in Preston in collaboration with the Shankly family and is due to open later this year. Shankly spent most of his playing career at Preston North End FC as well as Liverpool.
