Sleeperz Hotels, a leading design-led budget hotel group, has appointed two experienced Scottish hospitality professionals to manage its newest property in Dundee.
Manny Baber has been appointed general manager of soon-to-open Sleeperz Hotel Dundee and Aimie Beasley joins as sales manager.
The new team will oversee 45 staff members at the 120-bed concourse hotel, the group’s fourth UK property, which is located above Dundee Rail Station in the Central Waterfront District.
The hotel is opposite the new £80m V&A Museum of Design Dundee and close to the historical ship RRS Discovery, in the heart of the city’s £1bn waterfront regeneration.
Manny Baber, general manager at Sleeperz Hotel Dundee, said: “As a proud Scot, this is an absolute dream move for me. Dundee is undergoing a remarkable transformation.
Massive inward investment is set to drive the city’s commercial, tourism and cultural sectors forward and redefine Dundee as one of Scotland’s must-visit destinations. I’m thrilled and honored to be joining Sleeperz Hotels and managing the companies newest property right across from the V&A Museum of Design Dundee.”
Manny, originally from Glasgow, brings with him 20 years’ experience in hospitality, including a decade spent in senior roles with Hilton Hotels in the UK.
He has worked overseas, on remote Scottish Islands and delivered high profile hosting operations during the London 2012 Olympics, The 2014 Ryder Cup and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Aimie, from Dunfermiline, has extensive sales, marketing and events experience and has been working in the full service sector as a sales and events manager with DoubleTree by Hilton.
David Myers, chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels, said: “Sleeperz Hotels welcomes Manny and Aimie to the company and is excited to be part of this landmark period in Dundee’s history.
The city is a perfect location for our fourth UK hotel. Sleeperz Hotels are design-led and architecturally bold while Dundee is the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design.”
Aimie will be responsible for developing the hotel’s profile with Dundee’s business community and attracting bookings for meetings, conferences and business travel.
“This is a great opportunity to further my career with a progressive and exciting hotel brand. Sleeperz Hotel Dundee enjoys an unrivalled location at the gateway to the city and will service both the leisure and business traveller,” said Aimie.
The company has further plans to expand and has earmarked major UK cities, including Chester, Glasgow, London, Birmingham and Manchester as potential venues for hotels in the next phase of development.
