Local Pizza restaurant, Fire and Brew is collaborating with young people with special needs to invent a new pizza in aid of The Try Games.
The Try Games is coming up on 3rd June at Odd Down Sports Ground and Fire and Brew will be there firing up their Pizza oven and feeding hungry competitors. In preparation the chefs visited students at Three Ways School and challenged them to create a new pizza for the restaurant menu. Not only will this pizza be at the Try Games but it will be on the menu at Fire and Brew on Moorland Road. A donation for every pizza sold will be going to Three Ways School to help fund sports and fun after school clubs.
On Sunday 3rd June 2018, the Bath community are invited to Odd Down Sports Ground for The Try Games – The first totally inclusive Try games in Bath will be a huge fundraising event in aid of Three Ways Special School. People of all abilities can try a wide variety of inclusive sports, take part in a fun run, and have a go at running on custard!
Three Ways School is a Special Needs Academy in Bath offering a unique, stimulating learning environment to pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities aged from 3 to 19. All the fundraising from the Try Games will go towards sports clubs and equipment for the school.
The event will have lots of sports to choose from – including, Bath Rugby Foundation multi sports, martial arts, Crossfit, cycling, athletics – as well as the opportunity to attempt at running on custard– so that everybody, whatever their ability or prowess, has a chance to try something new and appreciate what others are really capable of.
Jeanine Pellicci, owner of Fire and Brew says ‘ We are really excited to be teaming up with Three Ways Students to create a new and delicious pizza. It’s an amazing opportunity for us to try something new, working with the students and being part of the first Try Games and we hope the young people enjoy designing, making and tasting the pizzas.’
Steph Muse, teacher at Three Ways says’ It is fantastic to be able to offer as many new experiences to our students, to get them into different work places to see what it is like and to work with new adults from the community. We started with an afternoon in 3 Café Kitchen designing the pizzas and then got to make them in the clay ovens in Fire and Brew on Moorland Road. The young people have not only tried new pizza making skills but gained confidence in speaking to new people and pride in seeing their own pizza on the menu.’
Three Ways sixth form students say ‘ Being able to try different ingredients and help make our own pizza in a real fire oven is so cool, I can’t wait to bring my family to try it at the Try Games.’
