Independent neighbourhood bar group Darwin & Wallace reveal name of sixth site; 601 Queen’s Rd, opening in the heart of Wimbledon this spring. Situated in the bustling Wimbledon town, adjacent to the tube and rail station and walking distance from Wimbledon Village and The All England Tennis Club, 601 Queen’s Rd will welcome local residents and visitors to enjoy its modern interpretation 21st Century pub,. 601 Queen’s Rd will serve locally sourced and carefully curated food and drink, from morning coffee through to evening nightcap.
Like its sister locations, 601 Queen’s Rd will be bespoke to its unique location and indicative of its area, drawing on local as well as global inspirations and will form its own version of the Darwin & Wallace address. Independent in spirit and rich in design, 601 Queen’s Rd will feature bespoke works of local and global artisans from tiles to soft furnishing, unique lighting and hand picked artwork from The Hang Up Gallery. The carefully curated food and drinks menu, which is featured across all Darwin & Wallace locations will offer exquisite drinks and locally sourced, scratch cooked food. Expect fresh serves and seasonal dishes to be featured on the spring menu as 601 Queen’s Rd opens.
Darwin & Wallace are the two-time award winners of the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards’ ‘Best Pub’ for No 1a Duke Street in 2016 and No 197 Chiswick Fire Station in 2017. The group has achieved the coveted three-star award by the Sustainable Restaurant Association for their commitment to serving great quality food; celebrating local and seasonal food, sourcing better fish for a healthy ocean, reducing food wastage wherever possible as well as their commitment to local residents and local charities.
The group first opened No 11 Pimlico Road in Chelsea in 2012, and have since opened No 32 The Old Town in Clapham, No 1a Duke Street in Richmond, No 197 Chiswick Fire Station in Chiswick and more recently No 29 Power Station West adjacent to the iconic Battersea Power Station. 601 Queen’s Rd will open in Wimbledon in Spring 2018.
