The former Prince of Wales in Willesden Lane, Kilburn has reopened as the Kilburn Arms following a £750k joint refurbishment by Star Pubs & Bars and multiple operator, Beronmoor designed to broaden the pub’s appeal.
The Kilburn Arms, is Beronmoor’s fifth site with Star and takes its north, west and central London based pub portfolio to eight.
The newly refurbished family friendly gastro pub now also has an artisan fish and chip shop and 12 new double ensuite letting rooms with wi-fi, high definition TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.
A large new kitchen has been installed allowing the Kilburn Arms to offer food for the first time with an area partitioned off to cater for the fish & chip takeaway service.
The whole interior of the pub has been redecorated and upgraded with new fixtures and fittings and a disabled toilet. A mix of banquette and freestanding seating has increased the covers by 20 to 93. The look of the dining and lounge area is traditional English inn with panelling, parquet floor, gaslight effect lighting and classic William & Morris style wallpaper. The drinking part of the pub is reminiscent of a gentleman’s club with button back leather arm chairs, pendant lighting and upholstery in earthy tones. A copper mesh ceiling provides interest and adds to the warmth of the room.
Outside, the pub has been repainted in sophisticated grey and white with new signage and additional lighting, and the exterior seating area enhanced with decking and planting.
The menu will feature pub classics such as top quality homemade burgers, risottos and Sunday roasts. Fish and seafood will be a speciality including dishes like crispy squid, fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil and citrus aioli; and Kilburn Arms Bouillabaisse of mussels, salmon, tiger king prawns, squid, tomato, chilli garlic, lemon and toasted bread.
The drinks will match the quality of the food including a selection of premium gins & rums, wines and champagne, cocktails, craft ales and bottled beers such as Morretti and Lagunitas and Cloudy Apple and Symonds ciders.
The pub will open from 8am for breakfast and barista style coffee and will serve snacks and pastries throughout the morning.
Managing director, Costa Tofan said: “We were attracted to The Kilburn Arms because of its great location, size and character. It meant we could run three distinct but interconnected businesses from the same location – a traditional English pub, a small hotel and an artisan fish & chip shop. It’s our biggest site to date and the first time we’ve had letting rooms.”
Tim Galligan, Operations Director, Star Pubs & Bars said: “We’re delighted Beronmoor has taken on the Kilburn Arms and is creating a unique business in the area, allowing the pub to realise its potential. The joint investment together with their local knowledge and extensive experience will ensure the pub is sustainable in the long-term.”
