ONE of the Cotswolds’ most popular boutique hotels has made a move into the holiday lettings industry, with the opening of a luxury holiday cottage in the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.
The Old Stocks Inn has officially unveiled the property today after a three-month £500,000 refurbishment project.
The opening of the cottage – named Parson’s Barn – marks the hotel team’s first step in a bid to ‘shake up’ the traditional holiday let market in the Cotswolds area and increase its capacity to cater for families and group bookings.
Jim Cockell, owner of the Old Stocks Inn, said: “We’re thrilled to officially open our latest venture – the Old Stocks Inn Bolthole: Parson’s Barn.
“We felt that the holiday letting market really needed a breath of fresh air. We’re out to achieve that and shake things up by combining the space and flexibility guests look for with a holiday cottage break, with all the luxurious touches and comforts you’d expect from a boutique hotel stay.”
The three-bedroom period cottage, which can sleep up to six adults and two small children, is located just metres from the Old Stocks Inn hotel and has been revamped in the Old Stocks’ signature quirky style, combining high-end contemporary design and furnishing with the property’s period features.
Jim added: “When we arrived on the Cotswolds’ hotel scene in 2015, after a dramatic refurbishment, we made a real mark on the tourism industry here, helping to put Stow-on-the-Wold on the map by offering something a little out of the ordinary.
“We’re now the top-rated hotel in the town now according to Trip Advisor, and one of the top ranked in the Cotswolds as a whole.
“Our move into the luxury cottage breaks market gives us the chance to make our mark again, raise the bar for local holiday lets higher and provide our customers with something new.”
