Five-star, luxury lifestyle hotel, Andaz London Liverpool Street has expanded its food and drink offering with the launch of Lady Abercorn’s Pub & Kitchen.
A contemporary public house full of intrigue, the new establishment serves both classic and innovative gastronomy, a large selection of wine, spirits and beers – including the Lady A IPA that it brews itself – and promises to be a destination for the curious, with live performances and delights and discoveries to be made by those who know how to ask.
The venue takes its name from an iconic landlady from the area. Sassy, strong and caring, Lady Abercorn is an embodiment of the quintessential East London public house proprietor. The venue is embedded with her personality and traditional in style, but delivers a fresh take on an old industry, appealing to its modern audience. Well-travelled, Lady Abercorn brings global touches to this East London institution, which appear in the décor and on the menu.
Food & Drink
The kitchen serves both gastronomic classics and cuisine inspired by the landlady’s exotic travels, with an eclectic menu featuring a combination of hearty and light dishes.
The venue’s signature is an iconic roast, served at Lady Abercorn’s with bottomless Yorkshire puddings and a menu of both traditional and unique gravies. The roasts rotate with a different dish served each day, including Lamb Shoulder, Roast Corn-fed Chicken and Pork Loin, along with a vegetarian Vegetable Wellington. There will also be an express roast lunch, available on weekdays, for those looking to dine for a maximum of an hour.
The menu features ‘Homely Classics’, including warming favourites Beef Feather Blade Bourguignon served with Alsace Bacon, Chestnut Mushrooms and Potato Puree and British Fish & Chips, served with Mint and Marjoram Crushed Peas, Samphire & Anchovy Tartare and Triple Cooked Chips, whilst an array of global plates, such as King Prawn and Coconut Curry with Steamed Basmati Rice & Green Mango Pickle and Harissa Glazed Aubergines with Freekeh and Lentils and a Tahini & Low Fat Yogurt Dressing can be found under ‘A Dish of My Diary’.
For lighter options, ‘Lady A’s Favourites’ include Smoked Haddock & Cauliflower tart, with Parmesan Custard & Charred Baby Leeks and Stuffed Romano Peppers with Wild Rice & Nuts served with Fennel Puree and Red Pepper Essence and a ‘Snack Bar’ menu will also be available, featuring Smoked Mac and Cheese Croquettes, Wild Boar Scotch Egg served with Quince & Mandarin Marmalade and British Cold Cuts with House Pickles.
Celebrating the local area, Lady Abercorn’s Pub & Kitchen serves beer from local breweries and even brews its own, the Lady A, a light IPA with notes of grapefruit. Available both in a bottle and on tap with a 4.5% ABV, it is an ideal tipple to accompany food or to be enjoyed as a casual drink. A selection of wines and soft drinks will also be available.
London’s AI Barmaid
As with any good barmaid, Lady Abercorn is happy to talk to anyone, any time, so Andaz London Liverpool Street has created London’s Artificial Intelligence barmaid that Brits can pour their hearts out to and receive words of wisdom in return.
Built on Lady Abercorn’s unique personality, individuals can chat to the barmaid on Facebook messenger about a range of topics, from how to escape a terrible date, to what the meaning of life really is. The AI barmaid will also answer any questions on the venue, make bookings as well as deliver secret offers on drinks and food.
Entertainment
Surprises such as artists can be found at the venue, if one is lucky enough, offering to entertain guests as they drink and dine. From musicians to magicians and silhouette painters, it’s never clear what to expect inside Lady Abercorn’s, except excitement and intrigue.
Design
Lady Abercorn’s combines traditional pub decor with bold reds and blues and beautiful furnishings. The Grade II listed venue is complete with authentic Victorian features, including cast iron windows and coats of arms lining the walls, as well as items from the landlady’s long history and expansive travels.
