Liverpool FC has teamed up with St Helens College to offer catering students the opportunity to work alongside the club’s senior chefs and hospitality team and learn more about stadium catering and the hospitality business.
On 8th February, during Visitor Economy Week, LFC will be delivering a live dining experience, where students work alongside LFC chefs and hospitality managers to deliver the finest matchday hospitality to diners at Colours Restaurant.
As well as building their suite of catering skills, students will also visit Anfield and take a tour of its state-of-the art kitchens and catering facilities. LFC chefs will then assist students with food preparation while offering training and advice based on years of personal experience to those wishing to pursue a career in the industry.
Hospitality students will be invited to help the club’s event and hospitality team prepare everything required for the event front of house. Students will also be given a presentation on possible job opportunities available at the club and within the stadium business. Anfield’s executive head chef, Chris Marshall, and recruitment and retention manager, Emma Hulme, will then join the students for a Q&A session.
Commenting on the event, Paul Cuttill, general manager of hospitality, tourism and events at LFC, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with St Helens College to offer students the opportunity to learn more about the evolution of the stadium catering business while helping to develop their skills in a live dining environment. We also want to make students aware of what job opportunities are available to them within the sporting and stadium business industry.”
Julie Heap, Head of Department at St Helens College, added, “This is one of several interactive, industry focussed events that we hold to enhance our students experience. It is a valuable opportunity for our catering and hospitality students to work alongside those who have carved out successful careers in industry. It allows them to establish strong links with industry whilst gaining an insight into what a future career will hold. We nurture core employability skills with our students and these unique events really help to enhance their CV.”
