Kricket announces second opening at television centre in White City, London

January 5, 2018

Kricket have announced that it has concluded agreements with Stanhope to open a new permanent restaurant in summer 2018 at Television Centre, the former home of the BBC in White City, West London.

Having run a successful site inside one of Pop Brixton’s shipping containers for almost two years, founders Chef Will Bowlby and Rik Campbell opened Kricket’s first permanent restaurant in Soho in January 2017. Known for its modern, seasonal twist on Indian dishes, the new 3,600 square foot site in White City will be much larger and a more complex space than the current Soho restaurant. Seating up to 140, the restaurant will feature an open kitchen, cocktail bar and outdoor terrace. Kricket White City will take reservations of all sizes.

Rik Campbell, Co-Founder of Kricket, said: “We are really excited to be moving into the Television Centre, an iconic building in the heart of West London. We will be accompanied by some great names in the industry and together will make the Television Centre and surrounding areas a new centre of gravity for food, drink and entertainment.”

Alistair Shaw, Managing Director of Television Centre, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce that Kricket will open at Television Centre. As one of the brilliant newcomers on the London food scene, Will and Rik’s passion, craft and expertise have made Kricket one of the big success stories of 2017. We’re thrilled they have chosen Television Centre for their second permanent site, and Kricket White City will complement and further enhance an already leading line-up of independent restaurants due launch at Television Centre as it opens to the public for the first time this year.”

Television Centre is set to deliver 432 new homes in its first phase, with the first residents moving in December 2017. The development will welcome independent shops and restaurants from early 2018, including Homeslice, Patty & Bun and a second outpost of Chelsea’s Bluebird Café. Also set to open in early 2018 is a new Soho House members’ club, 47-bedroom hotel and an Electric Cinema equipped with three theatres. A new purpose-built 275,000 sq ft office building at Television Centre will be home to fashion, technology, media and telecom businesses and will be the new headquarters for fashion and homeware retailer The White Company from February 2018.

Television Centre is at the heart of a £10billion (11.5 euro billion) regeneration of White City. A thriving neighbourhood with exceptional transport links to the west end and city, home to a new campus for Imperial College University London, an extended Westfield shopping mall (now the biggest in Europe), enlarged White City Place office Park, and the creation of up to 2,000 new private homes, 200,000sq.m of new offices and 20,000 new jobs.

Television Centre is a joint venture development between Mitsui Fudosan, AIMCo and Stanhope.
