As 2017 comes to a close, Carden Park has a host of reasons to celebrate during its 20th anniversary year after winning a multitude of coveted industry awards this year.
The luxury four-star hotel’s most recent success came just last month at the Marketing Cheshire’s Annual Tourism Awards where they were awarded the prestigious title of Cheshire Hotel of the Year. This now automatically allows the team to enter the VisitEngland Awards which will be announced in April 2018. Although 300 guests celebrated with them that night, thousands of people including guests, industry peers and specialists had already cast their votes to recognise and reward one of the most outstanding teams in northern hospitality.
This success comes after other fantastic accolades including the award for Hotelier of the Year, which was won by General Manager Paul Bayliss MBE at the Independent Hotel Show in London in October. Paul incredibly was also the first ever hotelier in the North West to win the award and his ambition, creativity and passion for the business was visibly recognised by those who work alongside him in the hospitality sector.
Other accomplishments to add to the growing trophy cabinet were the accolades for Best and Brightest Idea at the Cheshire Hotelier’s Association Ball, given to the Carden Park bar team for their expansive list of gins and for Chef of the Year to Head Chef Graham Tinsley MBE at the annual Cheshire Life Food and Drink awards. Undoubtedly one of the biggest events in the calendar of the county’s hospitality industry, this was a superb tribute to the spectacular food dished out in the three restaurants at Carden Park this year.
The year began with #teamcarden members Jake Davies and Carrie Pinches being awarded the HOSPA Excellence Award in Financial Development Management in March and these great achievements firmly set the ball rolling for the most successful year that Carden Park has seen in its twenty years of existence, including its highest ever AA rating at 83%. This year’s triumphs also included being highly commended for Best Golf Resort in the North and shortlisted for the Best Regional Spa Country Retreat of the year.
The flurry of recent awards come as a reflection of General Manager Paul Bayliss’ vision to achieve recognition and reward for a hardworking workforce across the Cheshire hospitality sector and ensure Carden Park becomes the best country resort in the North West.
The team obviously thinks that too. Boasting impressive staff retention, many members of staff boast over 20 years’ service and have spent the majority of their working life at Carden with lots even making their way back to the hotel and thriving in the hospitality business for a second time. Paul Bayliss MBE himself worked at the hotel as Deputy General Manager from 2007 to 2009 before returning last year as the new General Manager which is a further indicator of the Resort’s great reputation for retention.
As well as this, current team members are given appropriate training and encouraged to grow and excel in their careers at Carden. This is through the introduction of a #growourown initiative which the hotel has successfully adopted.
As the hotel looks forward to an even more successful 2018, the year begins with further major enhancements to the guest experience. This industry leading hotel and team have a lot to look forward to.
Just the start to another fantastic year at Cheshire’s Country Estate. 2018 is going to be just as impressive with Industry leading announcements about plans for the future.
