Chef turned entrepreneur, Gary Usher, launched an impressive £200k Kickstarter campaign earlier in the year to open a 90-cover restaurant in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool city centre. After smashing the target 48 hours before the deadline, Wreckfish officially opens to the public on 23rd October. With just over a month to go, advanced reservations will be opening online at 7pm on Monday 18th September.
As well as opening online bookings, Gary Usher’s much-anticipated fourth restaurant, will be simultaneously launching the lunch and dinner menus for the city-centre based bistro. Guests will be able to choose to dine in the main restaurant, which overlooks the open kitchen or in the private dining room, which is available for parties of up to 40.
The Wreckfish menus include dishes such as: caramelised pork cutlet with chorizo, cashel blue arancini with port poached pears, pan roast skate wing with brown butter dressing and gin cured trout with pomegranate molasses. Desserts range from salted caramel tart and marmalade sponge to matcha tea mousse.
Gary Usher comments: “From the pop up event we held in the derelict building in February to the Kickstarter launching in May, it seems unreal that we’re opening next month. We’re really happy with how the fit-out has gone and couldn’t be more excited to be opening in Liverpool in time for Christmas. The Wreckfish menus are some of the best we have ever created with some amazing new dishes that I hope everyone will enjoy.”
As well as serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, new for the restaurant group is breakfast, which will be served daily from 7am following a launch event from Duck & Waffle’s Dan Doherty on 5th November. The breakfast menu will feature classic dishes, such as a full English, sitting alongside new-found favourites, eggs benedict and avocado on toast.
