Sonya Kelly has taken on the role of Revenue Manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton York – formerly the Monkbar Hotel – as it formerly opened its doors following a significant £3m programme of expansion and improvements.
All guests arriving at the 143-room hotel, which now boasts a 24-hour gym, will be greeted with a warm welcome and signature DoubleTree Cookie!

DoubleTree by York General Manager Graham Usher said: “The role of revenue manager is one of the most important in the hotel, and Sonya brings with her more than decade’s experience in this discipline.
“This is a challenging role, and Sonya will be effectively by our ‘Chancellor of the Exchequer’. We have a very experienced senior team at the DoubleTree by Hilton York, and Sonya appointment will strengthen it further.”
Sonya said: “I couldn’t be joining the DoubleTree Hilton York at a more exciting time. This is York’s newest hotel, and this premium band is a very welcome addition to York’s thriving hospitality sector.
“I’m looking forward to the demands of the role and working closely with Graham and the senior team in managing the meeting and beating the financial targets set for us.”
Sonya began her 14-year leisure industry career at Pleasure Island Theme Park, where she was a receptionist and guest relationship supervisor.
She has worked at Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort as cluster revenue supervisor and her last position was that of revenue/reservations manager at Hull’s Hallmark Hotel.
