The Independent Hotelier Awards take place annually during the Independent Hotel Show and are attended by 6,300 visitors over the two-day event. Voting for the awards begins months prior allowing the public to vote for hotelier and hotel of the year. The awards are designed to recognise the very best the Industry has to offer, celebrating the passion that comes from the independently spirited and entrepreneurial hotelier sector.
The shortlist was selected by a panel of industry experts, then passed to the public to decide the eventual winner and on this occasion, it was Paul. He was awarded alongside The No.15 Boutique Townhouse hotel in Bath who took home the prize for Best Independent Hotel.
Paul has served as General Manager of the historic Carden Park Hotel since 2016 but his journey at Carden Park began 9 years before as the Deputy GM of the property. This was after a highly successful career in the British Army as a Chef and Logistician which lead him to a meteoric rise within the Commercial sector of Hospitality. He attributes his success to the discipline and conditioning he experienced as a military chef. As well as his ambition to give opportunities to others and finally his interest in the art of excellent service he is constantly striving to deliver.
Paul is newly appointed Chief of Cheshire Hoteliers Association after leading and growing Europe’s largest Hoteliers Association in Manchester. At the top of his agenda, helping Carden Park become the best luxury hotel resort in the UK as well as providing recognition and reward to a hardworking workforce across the Cheshire hospitality sector.
