Leasowe Castle has housed the next generation of golfing stars throughout the duration of the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy.
The 16th-century castle, nestled on the picturesque Wirral coastline, was selected as the official hotel for the tournament which took place in Hoylake’s Open Championship (Links) course.
The tournament saw young men and women from 31 countries across the globe compete against each other through various rounds of golf before retreating to the hotel to enjoy all that the venue has to offer.
General Manager of Leasowe Castle Mike Dewey said: “We are delighted to have been selected by the Duke of York to welcome this year’s competitors to The Castle. It’s certainly a testament to our grounds and team members to have been chosen as the official place to stay, and we have taken great pride ensuring that the golfers were fully rested and raring to go ahead of the competition. Aside from unwinding in our recently refurbed 47 bedrooms, our guests have experienced the full royal treatment while being wined and dined in our in-house restaurant Brasserie 1593.
“With the competition itself being held in nearby Hoylake, our venue was the perfect setting in which to host the participants of this prestigious event. The tournament has previously attracted the likes of Rory McIlroy and Anna Nordqvist so it is incredibly exciting for the hotel to welcome the next generation of golfing legends into our 16th century abode.”
Leasowe Castle provides the perfect venue for a range of events from weddings to business conferences. Both guests and local residents can take advantage of The Castle’s Brasserie 1593 or the recently refurbished Knight’s Cocktail Bar which serves an array of cocktails and light bites.
Mike added: “Leasowe Castle has enjoyed a successful year whereby we have played host to a number of events, and we look forward to expanding our portfolio and working with both familiar and new guests in the future.
“The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy is supported and overseen by officials of the Royal & Ancient and counts towards the World Amateur Golf Rankings which makes it a monumental event within the sporting calendar. We do hope that our golfing guests have enjoyed their stay so much that we will be seeing them again in the near future!”
