Dumfries’ award winning, family run garden centre – Gardenwise has become the first in Scotland to offer a unique Scone-Brioche hybrid, named the Scioche.
Already creating a media stir since launch, the Scioche combines an award-winning brioche recipe with the most loved elements of a traditional scone to offer the best of both bakes.
First launched in London, Essex and Wales in April and May, Gardenwise has now become the first in Scotland to get the afternoon tea delight on their menu in time for summer.
The Scioche is now available from the Gardenwise coffeeshop where it is served with a selection of indulgent toppings such as strawberries, blueberries, cream or lemon curd.
Janice McDermid, Catering Manager of Gardenwise, said:
“We love to offer our customers exclusives so it’s great to be the first in Scotland to offer the Scioche. It’s a delicious product and when dished up with fresh berries, cream or curd, it’s a treat fit for a Scottish King or Queen so we’re expecting big things this summer.”
The Scioche Original can be treated like a scone, served with cream, berries, jam or curd, while the Sicilian Lemon & Poppy seed version offers added versatility as it can also be toasted and topped with savoury treats such as crab meat, scallops or chorizo.
Invented by Kent’s creative artisan bakers Speciality Breads, the Scioche is being distributed to Gardenwise by foodservice supplier Dennis Thomson.
Gordon Campbell from Dennis Thomson said:
“We’re delighted to be the first company to bring the unique Scioche north of the border and provide our customers with a great point of difference and selling point that can help put them on the map. They’re a tasty treat so we’re excited to help kick off the Scioche revolution in Scotland this summer.”
