The Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group has launched a Profit Share Scheme, called the HeartCount Fund which will allow their entire workforce to benefit.
The Group which celebrated 10 years in June comprises nearly 600 employees and Managing Director Steve Graham has taken the opportunity to focus on people as the Group looks forward to the next stage of growth. He has introduced a set of initiatives via a series of workshops which have been rolled out throughout the entire Group.
Under the Profit Share Scheme announced for the financial year to 31 March 2018, Manorview has committed to allocating 10% of its Pre-Tax Profits to the HeartCount Fund to be shared across the Group’s workforce.
All employees who have worked for the Manorview Group for a continuous period of 12 months will qualify for two Profit Share pay outs; one calculated on half year profits and a further payment based on full year results. The HeartCount Fund will be distributed in proportion to qualifying employee’s earnings. The first Profit Share payment will be made in January 2018.
The Group’s expectation is that there will be over £200k in the HeartCount Fund to be distributed between qualifying employees.
The name HeartCount places people at the very centre of Manorview, where people are the pulse, and the heartbeat. The Manorview ethos is to treat its employees as ‘Heartcounts’ rather than ‘Headcounts’. The aim is to make people feel valued, to recognise their worth, and retain, maintain and build upon the healthy hearts that sustain the company and help its continued growth.
The HeartCount Fund has been introduced as the Group listened to feedback and analysed the results of a recent team engagement survey. The Group is firmly focussed on the importance of people, where the aim is to make every employee feel part of something, and to encourage a sense of pride in their work, and in themselves.
As well as being able to benefit from a Profit Share Scheme, the Group have also added a new member to their team. They have launched a dedicated employee App called Iris, which is an interactive communication portal incorporating a separate reward system.
These initiatives follow on from the success of the Group’s Training Academy where talent is identified and nurtured through a programme, which combines on-the-job training with formal qualifications, aimed at growing the next generation of young people in the hospitality industry.
The Group’s initiatives aim to help every employee realise their potential and the valuable contribution they make to the Group’s continued growth.
The fast-growing Group has celebrated 10 years, after being founded by Glasgow-based Steve Graham in 2007, when he purchased The Commercial Hotel in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.
The company has since grown to incorporate a total of 16 licensed trade properties, comprising five pubs, two nightclubs and nine hotels, and a total staff of nearly 600. Total turnover for the year to 31 March 2016 for the entire Group was £15.8m.
Steve Graham, CEO, Manorview Group said, “A 10 year milestone is a good time to reflect. Like most businesses we started small, but growing bigger has led to new challenges. These include finding effective ways to communicate to all employees, to recognise their worth, develop them as people, and to ensure they feel part of a bigger picture and vision. It’s their hard work and efforts that help us to continually grow.
Our vision is for a strong, committed workforce, where we all feel part of the Manorview culture, live by its values, and where we work collectively towards the same goals and vision. Creating a happy and rewarding working environment for our people, will lead to increased levels of service and memorable experiences for the customers who visit us.
My goal is to inspire a team who see long term career opportunities at Manorview, and are proud to be a part of our growth. I believe we can achieve this by nurturing our talent, rewarding loyalty, and by communicating our core values”.
The Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group was recently listed in the London Stock Exchange 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain Report. This is the second time the company has been listed, the first time being 2015.
Although the Group has grown considerably it still retains its family-run feel and ethos. Steve Graham’s son Carlton, is Group Operations Manager, and daughter Shauna is Duty Manager at The Busby Hotel. Steve’s niece Fallon Cowley is Commercial Director, and her husband Anthony Cowley is Property Development Director.
