The Alchemist is giving back the most precious gift of all by encouraging its teams to donate over 300 valuable hours a month in supporting local communities by taking time off from work to volunteer – whilst still being paid.
The masters in dark arts and molecular mixology, The Alchemist likes to do things a little differently, making incredible transformations, usually through its approach to innovative cocktails and delivering a fun experience for guests. Now the unconventional bar and restaurant is transforming local lives, through The Currency of Kindness.
The premium operator has partner charities in all of its locations across the UK and supports causes from youth projects to helping the homeless and even doing someone else’s shopping for them. The initiative is simple and is all about sharing skills, experience and, most importantly, giving something more precious than gold – time.
Simon Potts Managing Director, The AlchemistManaging director, Simon Potts commented; “As a company, we’re investing in our neighborhoods. Quite simply we are giving our teams the freedom to donate their time to support the local community by paying them to take time off work to volunteer for partner charities in all our locations. We already have seven local charity partnerships we’re committed to and this will inevitably grow as we do”.
The Alchemist is passionate and committed to its communities and invests in individuals who share the same philosophies and want to make a difference. This is instilled in everything The Alchemist does, and is never an afterthought. It takes its people and ambitions seriously and invests in them, fulfilling their potential which in-turn creates a great working environment. The Alchemist understands that it’s not always easy to help good causes without providing a platform to do so. In 2017, the premium operator achieved a place in the ‘Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For’ list, which recognises organisations with the highest level of overall employee engagement and celebrates excellence in staff training and career development.
