Staff from Squire Hotels took a behind the scenes look at one of Lancaster’s cancer research labs, as they embark on a year-long fundraising drive.
Squire Hotels, which has hotels in Preston, Manchester and Lake Windermere has named North West Cancer Research as its corporate charity of the year.
It will raise money for the charity over the next twelve months through a series of events and fundraising. Plans are already in place to raise funds for sponsored races and installing donation boxes at hotels.
North West Cancer Research is the biggest funder of cancer research at Lancaster University and has committed to supporting more than £13million worth of research over the next five years across the North West.
To find out more about the life-saving research the charity funds, five staff from Squire Hotels took part in an exclusive lab tour at Lancaster University.
Led by Dr Nikki Copeland, they heard about ground-breaking research currently underway relating to cellular division and how cancer cells are formed.
Giulia D’Ambrosio, group quality and training manager for Squire Hotels, said: “As a company we are committed to supporting North West Cancer research this year.
“It was great to have a behind the scenes tour of the labs and see all the hard work that goes into developing cancer treatments. The team had a great day and we are all looking forward organising more charity events this year to raise money and create awareness for this fantastic charity”
Bobby Magee, Fundraising Manager, said: “It was great to meet the Squires Hotel team on the lab tour. It was great to be able to show them what the money they raise will be used for and we hope we have inspired their fundraising efforts and ideas. We would like to thank everyone involved and wish them good luck in their fundraising.”
