Five years ago, Peruvian Chef Martin Morales opened the doors to Ceviche Soho, paving the way for Peruvian food in the capital for the very first time. Ceviche Soho introduced the wealth of Peru’s authentic and diverse flavours such as Nikkei, Criollo, Chifa and Amazonian as well as the passion and culture of the country through music.
On 16th March, the restaurant will celebrate its milestone birthday by inviting some of London top chefs and friends to participate in a Ceviche Challenge. Gizzi Erskine, Ben Tish from the Salt Yard, Mark Jarvis, Head Chef at Anglo are all onboard penning their own recipes for the occasion. They will be joined by Anna Hansen, Founder of the Modern Pantry, Selin Kiazim expert of Turkish and Cypriot cooking and founder of Shoreditch’s Oklava, Bonny Porter co-founder of Balls & Company and a rising female talent plus Neil Rankin, BBQ maestro and founder of Temper.
Ceviche Soho continues to pioneer Peruvian food, creating new dishes and presenting recipes from all over Peru. It’s exciting atmosphere and ground breaking pisco cocktails have made it one of Soho’s most loved restaurant and bar. So to mark half a decade since Ceviche first came to London, Martin and the team are inviting the public to join them for the one-off celebration, bringing together some of London’s hottest chefs to put their unique twist ceviche, an ode to Peru’s national dish.
“Five years ago Peruvian food was no-where to be seen in London. We wanted to share our knowledge and passion for our food so we opened Ceviche Soho. Being first is hard, but it’s even harder continuing to be on top. Through excellence in creativity, authenticity and by sharing what we do we continue to be the ambassadors of Peruvian food. So as a thank you to our chef friends and customers we are inviting them to this one-off thanksgiving party and Ceviche Challenge,” says Martin Morales, Founder of Ceviche Soho.
There will be a winner on the night chosen by everyone attending but best of all the guest ceviches will feature on Ceviche Soho’s menu for the next 5 weeks alongside Martin’s category defining and much loved Don Ceviche recipe. One pound from the sale of each ceviche will be donated to Ceviche Soho’s partner charity Amantani.org.uk; a Peruvian charity helping indigenous Quechua families and children get access education in some of Peru’s most disadvantaged communities.
