With World Book Day approaching on 2 March, Lowndes Bar & Kitchen is unveiling its new Book and Brunch Sundays to add some literary bliss to brunch in Belgravia. Launching on Sunday 26 February, the Book and Brunch Sundays set menu brings together the best of the friendly neighbourhood restaurant’s new brunch menu with bottomless tea or coffee, fresh juice and a brand new paperback specially selected by nearby Belgravia Books.
Beginning with Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes’ latest novel, Belgravia, which takes readers back to the establishment of London’s grandest postcode, the choice of book included in the Book and Brunch Sundays offer will change monthly. Subsequent paperbacks will include award-winning author Rose Tremain’s The Gustav Sonata which was shortlisted for the 2016 Costa Novel Award, 2016 Man Booker Prize-shortlisted Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Canadian author Madeleine Thien and London-based author Rowena Macdonald’s debut novel, The Threat Level Remains Severe.
In addition to a copy of the book of the month, a fresh juice and bottomless tea or coffee, the Book and Brunch Sundays set menu will kick off with a choice of Coconut milk porridge with blueberries; Maple syrup granola with yoghurt and blackberries; or a fresh fruit platter.
Following their first course, guests will be able to choose from a range of hot dishes, including Poached eggs with smashed avocado and chilli on toasted sour dough; Caramelised vegetable and chorizo frittata with courgettes, red onions, feta cheese and spicy chorizo sausage; and Brioche French toast with sautéed bananas, caramel sauce and Cornish clotted cream.
Lowndes Bar & Kitchen’s latest collaboration with local independent bookstore Belgravia Books follows the launch of Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel’s ‘Belgravia Lending Library’ in 2016. Featuring novels by local authors, glossy coffee table books on Belgravia brands and biographies of former residents, the unique collection is housed in Lowndes Bar & Kitchen and the hotel’s Map Room function space and is available for all guests to borrow from during their visit or stay.
