BungaTINI is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrea Pesenti to the position of Head Chef. Formerly of Mele e Pere, he will be at the helm of the 12-strong kitchen brigade at the charming new Italian restaurant on Drury Lane. Pesenti will also oversee the evening service for the supper club extravaganza below, Bunga Bunga Covent Garden, where diners enjoy an indulgent six course feasting menu.
Pesenti boasts an impressive resume, having cut his teeth working within some of the world’s most luxurious drinking and dining establishments, such as the Four Seasons Hotel and most recently, Soho Italian restaurant and Vermouth bar, Mele e Pere, where he was Head Chef.
Having first been introduced to the kitchen as a waiter in his uncle’s Northern Italian restaurant at the age of 13, Pesenti decided to pursue his passion for cooking in London at the age of 19. He brings to London a rare talent for creating tasty, authentic Italian dishes and a wealth of knowledge surrounding Italian ingredients, honed from his childhood growing up in Verona. Regardless of where in the world he travels, Pesenti admits his real home has always been the kitchen.
Pesenti is now responsible for the day-to-day kitchen operations of BungaTINI, as well as the supper club extravaganza beneath, Bunga Bunga Covent Garden. He values the importance of keeping authentic Italian cuisine at the forefront of the restaurant’s offerings. In light of this, he travelled through Italy during the summer of 2016, handpicking suppliers for the restaurant along with General Manager, Matthew Richardson. Pesenti’s signature dishes that emerge from the wood fired oven marry best of British flavours with unrivalled Italian cooking. Since taking up his position at BungaTINI, Pesenti has worked tirelessly to create a delicious weekend Wood Fired Brunch menu for 2017, with dishes including ‘The English Breakfast’ pizza featuring Tomato, Mozzarella, Sausage, Pancetta and Soft Egg.
The brand new pizzeria has recently set up in London’s entertainment hub of Covent Garden, to join its sister venue in Battersea. Situated a stone’s throw from Holborn station, the eatery is an authentic all-day pizzeria and aperitivo bar straight out of the Italian backstreets. As night falls, those in the know will be able to pass through a meat locker door and embark on an experiential journey leading to an all singing all dancing supper club extravaganza hidden beneath the streets where diners can feast on a six course menu fit for any friend, roman and countryman. Highlights include fennel sausage arancini; burrata & pappa pommodoro; mushroom and truffle risotto and a selection of signature Bunga Bunga metro pizzas.
