The Mayor of Haverhill, Councillor David Roach joined Travelodge Development Manager, John Hardy to officially open the town’s only branded hotel, Haverhill Travelodge.
The hotel has 80-rooms, a Bar Café and on-site free car parking. Travelodge which operates 540 hotels took over the management of this property from Days Inn in August 2016. Over the last three months the landlord has invested £700,000 giving the hotel a refurbishment makeover in line with Travelodge’s new contemporary brand design.
This investment includes upgrading all the rooms with Travelodge’s new room concept which has been designed by customers and features the new bespoke king size luxurious Travelodge Dreamer bed and individual single beds in family rooms.
The hotel is located within close proximity to the town, at: Phoenix Road, Haverhill, Suffolk CB9 7AE. The hotel is being managed by Donna Revell who has transferred over from Days Inn and has ten years length of service of previously managing the Days Inn hotel.
John Hardy, Travelodge Development Manager said: “We are delighted to officially open our first hotel in Haverhill, which is also our second biggest property in the county. During the last three months the hotel has undergone a complete transformation and the hotel team has done a fantastic job in operating the hotel as normal during this hectic period.
The demand for good quality branded accommodation at a great price is growing at pace across Suffolk. To meet this requirement we are now looking to grow our portfolio of seven properties in the county with another two. Locations include Newmarket and Felixstowe. These openings will create around 60 new jobs within the area.”
The Mayor of Haverhill, Councillor David Roach said: “The arrival of Travelodge to Haverhill brings a well-known and trusted brand to the town. It’s location near to the bypass and the town’s business community should ensure its popularity. In addition it is also ideally placed for leisure use being on the edge of three counties and within half an hours drive to Cambridge. I am extremely pleased to be able to open the hotel and wish it and its staff every success.”
Donna Revell, Hotel Manager, Haverhill Travelodge, said: “I am delighted to take over the management of Haverhill Travelodge. “Customers love the new upgraded contemporary room design and we have been inundated with customer requests on how they can get hold of our bespoke king size Travelodge Dreamer Bed for their home.
We have got off to a flying start, we are literally booked out with business customers during the week and leisure travellers at the weekend. This is great news for the local economy too, as our research shows that annually Travelodge customers will spend over £2 million with local businesses during their stay with us.
We are also getting geared up for busy Christmas period as being the provider of the spare room for local residents who have family and friends visiting during the festive period.”
In addition to its new Haverhill opening, Travelodge has also invested one million pounds modernising its six other hotels in Suffolk with its new upgraded contemporary brand design. See notes to editors for further details of the new Travelodge room concept.
