The Bloomsbury Club Bar (BCB) is delighted to announce that they will be hosting the first ever residency from New York City’s critically-acclaimed BlackTail – from the team behind The Dead Rabbit (World’s Best Bar)– as part of the ‘Club Residencies Project’.
BlackTail will kick-off their three night residency at BCB on Thursday 9th February 2017, with an innovative cocktail menu (more details to follow) created by BlackTail’s Bar Manager Jesse Vida, previously of The Dead Rabbit, Booker & Dax and Dutch Kills. Harrison Ginsberg (currently working across The Dead Rabbit and BlackTail) will also be joining forces with Jesse and helping to bring a taste of New York City to London.
BCB’s ‘Club Residencies Project’, launched in November this year – with a hugely successful residency from Athens’ The Clumsies – will see BCB’s Bar Manager Brian Calleja opening his doors to residencies from some of the world’s greatest bars. Brian says: “I am delighted to be continuing to host the world’s best bars as part our Club Residencies Project. BlackTail serve some of the best cocktails in the USA, which makes them the perfect partner for The Bloomsbury Club Bar.”
BlackTail was inspired by the American bars that sprang up in Havana during US Prohibition. It was opened in August 2016 by Cocktail aficionados Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, the team behind The Dead Rabbit. BlackTail’s extensive drinks list is split into five categories – Highball, Punch, Sour, Old-Fashioned and Cocktail – each inspired by the classic cocktails of the era, ‘interpreted for today’s tastes and amplified with the latest techniques’.
Guests at The Bloomsbury Club Bar will be able to order from an exclusive menu, including four of BlackTail’s most popular drinks alongside four BlackTail twists on the BCB’s own cocktail menu. Cuban-inspired Jazz will be played each night accompanied by a delicious food menu taking inspiration from the dishes at BlackTail. Highlights of the menu include the signature Rabbit Cuban Sandwich, made with confit rabbit leg, rosemary ham, roasted pork shoulder, swiss tomme, dill pickles and mustard sauce. Each dish will be expertly-designed to complement the drinks.
Additionally, the first of 2017’s ‘The London Sessions’ series will take place at The Bloomsbury Club Bar during the takeover (Thursday 9th February at 1pm). This will be hosted by Rebekkah Dooley, the founder of The London Sessions, with Jesse Vida and other prominent industry speakers including Tomas Estes, the ambassador for tequila in Europe.
The Bloomsbury Club Bar is a moody, seductive and atmospheric space, creating the perfect backdrop for an evening. Described by BarChick as serving “killer cocktails”, the bar is split into two areas: the main bar and the outer terrace bar. The walls in the main bar area are adorned with artwork and books synonymous with the Bloomsbury Set, with a subtle English colonial influence.
Named by The Spirits Business as “one of the hottest bar openings of June 2016” it has a traditional member’s club feel, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their evening in style. The secluded outside bar resembles a relaxed bohemian space with heated booths lining the exposed brickwork and a canvas of fairy lights covering the ceiling.
