In the season of giving CLC World Resorts & Hotels has played its part by donating £5,000 to help fund the treatment of a CLC Duchally Country Estate staff member’s granddaughter who suffers from Cerebral Palsy.
Young Paige Connolly, who is the granddaughter of Fiona Kay – a supervisor at CLC Duchally for 14 years, suffered from a brain injury during birth and her family have been fundraising for stem cell therapy and after care therapy. Following the brain injury, Paige had a three day Hypothermic Treatment using a cooling mat, which can help to reduce the risk of brain damage in babies.
There are currently only four cooling mats available in Scotland so the Connelly family are hoping their fundraising efforts will raise awareness of the issue and support funding for more cooling mats to be put in place.
CLC World helped the family to meet their fundraising target of £15,000 by donating £5,000, following the family’s own sterling effort of raising £10,000.
The philanthropic endeavours don’t end there either. Earlier this year CLC World announced their ‘CLC World Charity Holidays’ programme that will see Europe’s largest independent resort operator donate 333 weeks of free accommodation to selected charities. The initiative will kick-off in 2017 to celebrate their 33rd year of operation and will involve their resorts in Austria, Spain, Tenerife, Turkey, Orlando and the UK.
To date CLC World Resorts & Hotels has worked with a number of charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund, Carers Trust and Help for Heroes. It will be expanding its charitable partners as part of CLC World Charity Holidays in 2017 and beyond.
CLC World Charity Holidays will focus particularly on working with charities that offer support to UK carers – those who give up their time to help family, friends and local communities who find it difficult to care for themselves.
