As the Bao phenomenon takes London by storm, Pod become the first fast food chain to launch these sweet fluffy steamed buns, known in Taiwan, their country of origin as ‘wrapped treasure’.
Loved by the likes of Grace Dent, Nigella Lawson and Giles Coren, Bao buns are a delicious Asian street food, traditionally steamed and filled with protein and sticky sauce. Pod have added their healthy twist to their three recipes. The buffalo chicken is paired with colourful slaw and crispy onions, an innovative smoked miso tofu is served with slaw and spicy seeds while the statement serve is a barbecue pulled pork with edamame beans, peas, kale, chilli and crispy onions.
High in protein, low in fat and ranging from only 220 – 280 calories, Pod’s buns are set to be London’s new lunchtime favourite.
Pod’s Executive Chairman John Postlethwaite comments: “These buns are incredibly delicate to get right and training the entire company in how to make them to Pod’s meticulous standards has been a rewarding challenge. Our thorough training programme and heavy investment into state of-the-art equipment in each of our restaurants means we can now offer this latest food frenzy to our customers in just a matter of minutes. Once again, Pod are bringing the latest international latest food trends to the capital.”
Set to be Pod’s biggest ever launch, the full range is available throughout their 24-strong estate from November 7th. It is the first of many planned new and innovative product launches by Pod as they begin their ‘food revolution’.
