Tortilla, the local Californian burrito and taco brand, opened the doors to its 30th store in the UK yesterday, Monday 17th October, just weeks after launching in Dubai, UAE.
Now the largest fast-casual Mexican operator in the UK, Tortilla has worked hard to revitalise the way the British public view and consume Cali-Mex food. Whilst bringing a healthy, well-balanced alternative to the fast-food market through their offering, they remain high on the list of operators who insist on providing quality products that are ethically sourced and competitively priced.
Earlier this year Richard Morris, Managing Director, announced their key focus was to continue to evolve the brand and grow further throughout the UK. Since then Tortilla has opened 2 locations; Guildford and Glasgow with 3 more set to open this year; Russell Square 17th October, Intu Eldon Square, Newcastle 7th November and Cribbs Causeway, Bristol late November which will see them recruit around 60 new staff from the surrounding areas.
Morris commented; “We started this business to provide a ‘relaxed burrito bar’ for local residents, students and passers-by in Islington. We’ve worked hard to maintain our values across all 30 locations. Our environments are designed to be individually unique and fun and we continue to believe that there is little in life better than a cold beer and a juicy burrito! It’s a major achievement to be opening the doors of our 30th store in the city where we first began, and we’re excited to continue opening restaurants all over the UK.
