Roadchef, one of the UK’s largest Motorway Service Area (MSA) operators, has announced the opening of a new SPAR store at its Clacket Lane site on the M25 between junctions 4 and 5.
The addition of a SPAR at Clacket Lane adds to the site’s already extensive range of services, including McDonald’s, WH Smith, Costa Coffee and Fresh Food Cafe. Clacket Lane SPAR will feature the convenience group’s innovative store design, which champions locally sourced produce from the Kent area, as well as an in-store bakery, ensuring motorists have access to a wide range of fresh, healthy goods with a clear provenance.
This is the sixth SPAR launch in partnership with Roadchef, following successful openings at Tibshelf, Sedgemoor, Northampton and Strensham sites in recent months. Roadchef expects that the new convenience store will be popular with drivers along the M25 route, as an estimated 5,000 motorists stop at the Clacket Lane site every day. The launch of the site will also provide 20 new jobs for the area, and offer in-house expert training from the SPAR team.
Simon Turl, CEO of Roadchef, commented: “We’re really pleased to announce the arrival of our sixth SPAR store, this time at Clacket Lane. The M25 is famously one of the UK’s busiest motorways, so we are delighted to be able to provide motorists with a leading convenience store outlet in such a prime location. SPAR’s mission is to provide great value fresh food to its customers, which chimes with Roadchef’s aim to ensure motorists are presented with the best service and best brands. Both companies celebrate local talent, and Roadchef is pleased to not only open this new SPAR, but also bring 20 new jobs to Clacket Lane.”
Roadchef employs more than 3,300 people in the UK, across its 30 locations, and boasts an outstanding employee retention record. Roadchef has recently been awarded an “Investors in People Gold” accreditation for the support and development of its team. Less than 100 companies in the UK hospitality have achieved this accolade.
