Roger Wade, Boxpark’s creator and CEO, says: “I’m delighted to announce the opening of Boxpark Croydon, our first food and drink only retail development. I would like to personally thank Croydon Council, Schroders, GLA and most importantly the local Croydon community for their support. I was born and bred in South London, and it’s great to build a world-class development in my local area. We are not building this IN Croydon, we are building FOR Croydon!”
Croydon Council Leader Tony Newman said: “We’re delighted to be working with Boxpark to bring this exciting venture to Croydon. Its arrival is fantastic news for residents and is bringing with it new visitors, businesses and jobs. Boxpark Croydon is another important milestone for us in the regeneration of our borough – there’s so much happening here and we’ve got lots to be excited about.”
Boxpark Croydon sits directly alongside East Croydon station, meaning that it’s easily accessible for visitors coming in from London, the south coast and further afield. The site is also walking distance from West Croydon station where the overground line runs.
Boxpark holds over thirty tenants on site in the iconic black, repurposed, shipping containers, spanning across two floors. The site also features its very own, fully stocked, bar – BoxBar; sponsored by Coors Light. The bar offers a selection of drinks from beers, ciders, mixers and signature cocktails and the 300 capacity bar space will also host regular events; some of them featuring Boxpark’s resident DJ’s. Overall, Boxpark Croydon has a massive 2000 capacity space – so expect big things.
November’s event calendar is already filling up. Boxpark brings Dubstep home to its Croydon roots on 3 November with the HERITAGE event, featuring Crazy D, Chef, N-Type and a secret special guest. From then on, there’ll be top party vibes and chilled acoustic sessions from the likes of Amps & Decks, Love Cronx, Beats & Eats and Busk the Box!
