Elegant Hotels Group Barbados appoints new chef at Daphne’s

September 9, 2016

Michele Blasi

Set on the platinum west coast of Barbados, Daphne’s is synonymous with sumptuous dining and style.  A favourite of celebrities and holidaymakers from around the globe, Chef Michele Blasi from Milan has taken over the helm of the Italian restaurant, serving modern Italian classics infused with island seafood and flavors in a stunning waterfront setting.

Chef Michele Blasi, has a wealth of experience in Italian cuisine having managed Italian restaurants including Da Laura in Singapore and the five star Four Seasons in Tokyo, as well as creating home grown dishes in his native Italy including working at the two Michelin starred Sadler Restaurant in Milan.

Most recently Chef Blasi was based at Enoteca Turi in London.  This setting allowed him to combine authentic Italian ingredients from the motherland with the freshest fish from Cornwall and organic meat from Wales, thus making him the perfect man to take the helm at Daphne’s in Barbados and bring his fusion of Italian classics with local produce. New developments that Chef Blasi will implement include an indication of which region of Italy each dish on menu originates from, a new dessert menu as well as revised dinner menus for September and October.

Of the appointment, Sunil Chatrani, CEO of Elegant Hotels Group said “Chef Blasi is absolutely the perfect person to lead the Daphne’s team. His food is exquisite, his passion is inspiring and his inventiveness will surprise and delight diners for years to come, we are thrilled that he has joined us”.

Chef Michele Blasi added “To join such a well-renowned restaurant is an honour. My biggest passion is travelling and the first thing I do when I visit a country is explore, see and taste the local cuisine. I think the most important thing is to go to the local markets as there you can really feel the heartbeat of the destination at a gastronomic level.  In Barbados the markets are so exciting and I am looking forward to experimenting with all the wonderful local ingredients and plethora of seafood available.  I promise to keep the classics on the menu as well as ensure that there are some impressive specials to tantalise taste buds all year round.”
