Chamberlain’s of London has secured its place as one of the approved event catering suppliers at the Mary Rose Museum. It is the only London-based caterer on the list.
Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Jones, director of Chamberlain’s said: “We are delighted to have been appointed a preferred supplier to such an exciting venue, especially now that it has undergone further work and has recently re-opened with views of the ship from all nine galleries. The museum is the culmination of decades of work by the Mary Rose team and is such a popular venue in Portsmouth. There are some fantastic locations within the museum for all manner of events to be held, ranging from sit down dinners for up to 100 to drinks receptions for 300 people.
“We already work regularly in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard through our contract with HMS Victory – and it is a great honour to be chosen to cater for another spectacular historic venue and we very much look forward to working with the team.”
Paul Griffiths, Head of Operations at the Mary Rose Museum, said: “Following our dramatic improvements to the Museum, the Admiral’s Gallery is now one of the most unique venues to hold an event against the stunning backdrop of Henry VIII’s rescued flagship.
“It couldn’t be more fitting that we are working with someone of such high calibre as Chamberlain’s and are excited about working together and developing a successful relationship.”
All evening bookings allow exclusive access to the Mary Rose Museum, and guests can easily move on to the venue’s Bridge Balcony where they can enjoy a drink and spectacular views across the harbour.
From this vantage point they will be able to see historic ships, including Lord Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory, along with any visiting warships – perhaps while watching the sun set.
“There simply is no other venue like the Admiral’s Gallery for corporate events. We are extremely proud to be able to offer cutting-edge audio-visual and conferencing facilities and exceptional standards of catering and service, surrounded by a unique sense of history and occasion.”
Chamberlain’s Events caters for all manner of functions – from private dinner parties to a City livery hall banquet for 2000. With extensive kitchens at Billingsgate, the catering operation doesn’t impinge on the restaurant’s busy kitchens. Other clients include many of the capital’s finest locations, including The Guildhall, Tower of London, Banqueting House, Trinity House, St James’s Palace, Armourers Hall, Cutlers Hall and Leadenhall Market itself.
