Coinciding with Green Week 2016 (30th May – 3rd June), The Springboard Charity are pleased to announce Green Tourism as a new and forward thinking partner. Together they set a fine example to all, promoting green values on one hand, and hospitality career opportunities for all on the other.
The values each of these organisations uphold should align with the values of any business in the sector. Awareness of global warming and a world of finite resources means every business worth their salt should go green. As the world’s largest and most established tourism certification programme in the world, Green Tourism’s three-tiered grading system should be sought by all.
Green Tourism grades its members on one of three levels: bronze, silver and gold. The level naturally reflects the standard, and should encourage an ever increasing level of commitment to sustainable tourism, protection of the environment, minimised pollution and conservation of natural resources.
Jon Proctor, Chief Executive of Green Tourism, said “Safeguarding the future of sustainable business and employment within the hospitality sector has driven our partnership with The Springboard Charity. By working together, we can help hospitality businesses with their commitment to sustainable tourism and employment schemes to deliver a lasting legacy for the industry.”
Along with an increased consideration of green values, hospitality businesses must continue to offer opportunities to all and affirm their corporate social responsibility. Springboard has for over 25 years propelled those in need of support into fantastic careers in hospitality. Regardless of age or background, Springboard’s programmes and activities have given many opportunities, providing strong social benefits to individuals and businesses alike.
Rachel Lund, Business Development Director at Springboard, said, “Working with Springboard and Green Tourism allows hospitality businesses to be socially and environmentally responsible. It’s vital that the industry drives towards a sustainable future and by working with Green Tourism we can help encourage change. Springboard promotes and supports careers in hospitality and now it is a pleasure to be promoting green values across the industry.”
Working with Green Tourism and Springboard means supporting businesses that are driving towards sustainability, accountability and a pure, genuine approach. Both organisations have visions which look beyond the short term and seek to address issues which transcend the boundaries of separate businesses. Businesses must look to the likes of Green Tourism and Springboard, and do so in order to address unemployment and the significant human impact on the environment.
