The chips are down for the catering staff at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and it’s all thanks to Primeware Ceramics and the company’s unbreakable Flexepan range.
The Trust’s Catering Operations Manager (Chelsea) Denise Satterthwaite thought Flexepans were too good to be true when she first came upon them, but she was soon singing their praises: “We had far too many health and safety issues with our existing ceramic, melamine and cast iron products because they chipped easily or could not be used on hot surfaces,” she explains. “When I received the information on Flexepans I had to try them as they promised to be everything I had been hoping for.”
Following an initial trial Denise has now embarked on a complete dish upgrade programme and says, “I am slowly replacing all of my serving Gastronorms. We now use Flexepans for cooking and displaying everything from curries, lasagne and pies to roasts, puddings and vegetables. They are used for the lunch service at present but we are planning to roll them out for breakfast and lunch because they are so versatile.
“The Flexepans comply with the food safety requirements because they do not chip or cause potential harm to our customers and staff, plus they are economical because they are long lasting. What’s more, after washing they still look like new. Visually they are beautiful and they do what no other product can do. They can come straight from the oven to the hot counter. With something so easy to clean and long lasting, what else can you ask for?”
Oven to counter unbreakable and non-stick silicone GN Flexepans now come in five sizes, five colours and with lids. With a temperature range of -18°c to +230 °c, use them in the freezer, the oven, or microwave.
