Handmade pizzas and more than 80 ciders will be on offer when The Stable opens its doors in Whitechapel, London on the 21st of April 2016. Sourced from the West Country and carted to the big city, the Whitechapel location will be the fourteenth venue for the popular establishment, founded in Dorset in 2009.
With an ethos that champions high quality, seasonal ingredients, The Stable and their team of Stablehands are bringing a dash of Dorset to the capital and with it, a passion for the very best pizza and cider. Owners Nikki and Richard Cooper ensure that the philosophy stays strong across all locations, and Whitechapel will surely be no exception.
“East London is about authenticity. Everyone is looking for the ultimate burger, gallery, graffiti, bikes, beards, you name it. Our restaurants are a cathedral to cider, 80 variants representing the very finest of the art, the pinnacle, a Mecca for cider lovers. So it follows that we should have a cathedral to cider in London – like the Apple Store in Oxford Street. And it’s a very British thing, cider, so it follows that it should be accompanied with the finest British produce. It will appeal to young and old alike because what unites them is an attitude that is to seek out the finest expression of authenticity.” says Richard Cooper.
Formerly a night club on Whitechapel Road, the newly renovated building houses an energy that The Stable will nurture on their mission to bring people together over good food and drink. With long communal tables, the stripped back style of the building and great music, the individual elements are designed to encourage interaction, sharing and conversation. Open kitchens flaunt a passion for quality produce and a firm belief in cooking everything from scratch. The casual “order at the bar” system eliminates stilted table service and allows for more opportunity to sample the different cider varieties.
Whitechapel will host regular music nights, and the popular Tuck In Tuesday – with selected pizzas, side salad and a drink for only £10. The Stable is famous for naming some of its handmade pizzas after local historical figures or places of interest, and the London site will be no different. The existing venues in Bath, Bristol, Birmingham, Cheltenham, Cardiff, Falmouth, Fistral, Winchester, Weymouth, Winchester, Plymouth, Southampton and Poole are already established hubs for gathering over great pizzas and refreshing pints.
