Norwegian Fjord Trout; praised by Michelin Starred Ambassador, Daniel Galmiche for its rich flavours and versatility.
The rise of casual dining has been a catering success story in recent years, from independent restaurants and pubs to managed pubs and franchises growing the industry year on year. The Norwegian Seafood Council and Direct Seafoods will be exhibiting at the 2016 Casual Dining Show to showcase one of Norway’s best kept secrets, Fjord Trout, which has deep red-orange flesh and rich nutty flavours making it well-suited for casual dining menus.
With 23,000 kilometres of coastline, crystal clear glacier streams, dramatic fjords, and clean, clear water: Norway offers an incredible environment for fishing and fish farming. The Fjord Trout is known as the “The Jewel of the Norwegian Fjords” and it is the only trout that grows in sea water. It is a sea farmed trout raised in the pure and cold Norwegian fjords, where seawater meets fresh meltwater from the glaciers and snow.
Fjord Trout are fed a nutritious, balanced and sustainable diet to help them grow slowly, producing excellent quality fish with a deep red-orange colour, which is also common to the species. Together with its white marbling, this gives the flesh a luxurious feel and rich flavour. As it stores most of its fat on the belly, and less in its flesh, the Fjord Trout fillets are also lean and firm.
Praised by its Ambassador, Michelin Starred Daniel Galmiche for its quality and versatility, Norwegian Fjord Trout is delicious raw, smoked, marinated, steamed, fried, or grilled – it is perfectly suited to Casual Dining. Visit stand M528 to taste a variety of Fjord Trout products for yourself.
