As the Hospitality Works campaign gets into full swing, Springboard has been supporting the campaign by working with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) across the UK to host a range of activities.
The Springboard charity supports young people, the unemployed and those facing barriers to work into sustainable employment within the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry. It is now supporting the campaign which is taking place across 700 Job Centres and will feature 80,000 activities designed to help people pursue a career in the fantastic hospitality industry.
As a part of the campaign Springboard’s impact is clear. A range of Careers materials focused on the hospitality industry has been sent to every Job Centre across the country to support job seekers with requests for advice and guidance on getting a job within the sector. Springboard Ambassadors are on hand across the UK to deliver interactive workshops in Job Centres to raise the profile of the industry. These are available from Scotland to Devon with activity already scheduled in Scotland, the North West, Berkshire, Kent and the London areas.
Abby Paterson, Springboard’s Careers and Education Director said ‘We are delighted to be working with DWP on this campaign to promote the industry and the vast array of opportunities available to those considering a career or seeking employment in hospitality.’
In addition, the Springboard Careerscope website has been refreshed and relaunched to create a more efficient and dynamic user experience. The ‘Meet the Employer’ section has been fully updated with case studies and videos to provide even more useful information along with fantastic opportunities in hospitality to allow jobseekers to make well informed career decisions.
Hospitality and tourism is the fourth largest industry in the UK and so the importance of charities like Springboard is paramount. The sector has created one in five new jobs since 2010 and currently employs 4.49 million people in over 180,000 businesses. The Hospitality Works #GetInspiredHW campaign will surely allow this trend to continue.
